Diabetes is an increase in glucose levels in the blood, which can lead to various complications in relation to major organs.  This illness is either genetically inherited or triggered by environmental factors.  Two main types of diabetes are recognised:  type 1 and type 2.

However, a diabetic's blood sugar level increases abnormally, irrespective of whether the individual suffers from type 1 or type 2 diabetes.  This anomaly is due to the insufficient or incorrect use of insulin.  If left untreated, this illness can result in serious complications. 
In 1998, there were 143 million diabetics worldwide.  The prognosis for 2025 is 300 million.
